The Icelandic Publishers Association’s annual book market has recorded its highest sales figures in decades, according to a report by national broadcaster RÚV.

Sales at this year’s event surpassed previous years, marking a significant increase in both the number of books sold and total revenue. Organisers attribute the surge to growing public interest in literature and a strong turnout from both local and international visitors.

The book market, a long-standing tradition in Iceland, features titles from publishers across the country, offering a mix of new releases and established works. This year’s edition saw expanded participation, with more independent authors and smaller presses presenting their publications.
