The Faroese authorities have issued a warning about potential cyber threats targeting both local internet users and foreign attempts to influence the upcoming parliamentary election, Kringvarp Føroya reports.

A joint risk assessment and advisory from the Faroese Telecommunications Authority, the Working Environment Authority, and the Tax Administration urges citizens to remain vigilant against external interference.

Bárður Christiansen, an IT security specialist at the Telecommunications Authority, advises the public to “be alert and use common sense when engaging with digital platforms.”

The warning follows concerns that the Faroe Islands could become a target for cyber operations aimed at disrupting or influencing the election process.
