Queen Margrethe welcomed with Danish flags in her native Argentina
Denmark’s Queen Margrethe and Prince Consort Henrik were greeted by Danish flags upon their arrival in Argentina, the queen’s country of birth, reports DR.
The royal couple landed in Buenos Aires on Monday as part of an official visit, where they were received by local Danish expatriates waving flags. The queen was born in Argentina in 1940 while her family was in exile during the Nazi occupation of Denmark.
During their stay, the queen and prince consort will attend cultural events and meet with Argentine officials. The visit coincides with the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Denmark and Argentina.
