The Icelandic Meteorological Office has reported that strong winds and heavy rain, which affected much of the country overnight, are beginning to subside, according to national broadcaster RÚV.

Gusts exceeding 25 metres per second were recorded in some coastal areas, while inland regions experienced heavy rainfall. The worst conditions have now moved eastward, with forecasts indicating calmer weather for the rest of the day.

No major disruptions to transport or infrastructure have been reported, though local authorities had advised caution for drivers in exposed areas. The meteorological service continues to monitor conditions as the system weakens.
