Man in 40s arrested after stabbing incident in Drammen

A man in his 40s has been arrested following a serious stabbing incident at a residential address in Drammen, Norway, local media report.

Emergency services, including police, ambulance, and air ambulance, responded to the scene early Sunday morning after reports of a wounded individual, Dagbladet and Drammens Tidende report.

The victim, also in his 40s, sustained stab wounds and was airlifted to Ullevål Hospital in Oslo for treatment. Police confirmed the incident was a “serious act of violence” but did not disclose the relationship between the suspect and the victim.

Ståle Olstad Fuglaas, operations manager for the South-Eastern Police District, told Dagbladet that the suspect was apprehended near the scene without incident. The investigation remains in its early stages.

A neighbour who alerted authorities described a distressed woman knocking on their door around 6:30 AM, prompting an immediate call to emergency services. The neighbour, who wished to remain anonymous, told Drammens Tidende they were instructed to take shelter while police secured the area.
