Three stores operated by Icelandic retail chain Rammagerðin in the Leifsstöð shopping centre will close permanently tonight, the company has announced.

The affected locations include a hardware store, a garden centre, and a home furnishings outlet. The closures come as part of a restructuring plan following the company’s acquisition by rival retailer Byko in 2023.

Rammagerðin, a well-known Icelandic brand specialising in DIY, home improvement, and gardening supplies, has faced financial challenges in recent years. The Leifsstöð shopping centre, located in the Reykjavík capital area, is one of Iceland’s largest retail hubs.

No immediate details were provided on potential job losses or plans for the vacated retail spaces.
