Phishing scam targeting credit card information linked to Tampere tram service

A phishing scam disguised as the Tampere tram service has emerged, attempting to extract individuals’ credit card information. Recipients have received messages containing a compromised QR code, which redirected them to a fraudulent site aimed at collecting sensitive financial details.

The tram company’s CEO, Pekka Sirviö, reported that they became aware of the scam yesterday evening and are currently investigating the incident to ascertain its origins. The company is also considering filing a police report if necessary.

Sirviö stated that there is currently no information on how the scam was disseminated or how many individuals may have fallen victim to it by providing their credit card details. He emphasized that such scams have not previously occurred in connection with the tram service.

“This is a very unfortunate situation,” Sirviö remarked, adding that the company will provide more updates once further information becomes available.
