In Bodø, excitement is brewing over the local football team’s recent performances and their lead in Norway’s top football league, Eliteserien. This shift has led local breweries, including Bådin, to begin selling their “gold beer,” a celebratory product anticipated to mark a potential championship victory. The concept of “jinxing,” or bringing bad luck, has become a hot topic as fans reflect on whether celebrating too early might tempt fate.

Bård Ludvig Thorheim, a local politician and supporter of Bodø/Glimt, expressed confidence that the team will maintain its winning streak. He announced plans for a festive gathering where they plan to toast with the special beer, stating, “I have faith it will go our way this weekend.” Meanwhile, another brewery in Bergen, 7 Fjell, has also infused its beer with a touch of gold, claiming it reflects their optimism for the season.

Psychologist Egil Hagen provided insight into the desire to find patterns in luck and superstition. He described the phenomenon of “magical thinking” where minor correlations, such as wearing a specific outfit on a lucky day, can mistakenly feel significant. He firmly stated that outcomes are more often shaped by chance rather than some mystical influence.

Despite the light-hearted discussions about superstition, local brewers remain enthusiastic. At Bådin, staff appear unfazed by the idea of “jinxing,” enjoying the buzz surrounding their gold beer. One brewer even admitted to feeling a bit superstitious but trusts in the team’s leadership.

The official sphere is engaged as well, with Thorheim asserting that nothing can stand in the way of their success. As Bodø/Glimt heads into this pivotal weekend, fans and locals alike look forward to what they hope will be a crowning achievement.
