Bus accident injures passengers on Fróðárheiði in Snæfellsnes, Iceland
A bus accident occurred today on Fróðárheiði in Snæfellsnes, Iceland, when a vehicle carrying approximately 25 passengers overturned off the road. Local police chief Ásmundur Ásmundsson confirmed that at least two individuals need to be airlifted by a Coast Guard helicopter that has been dispatched to the scene.
A second bus was sent from Hellissandur to collect the passengers who were unharmed and transport them to a disaster relief station in Ólafsvík.
Rescue teams from the area have been mobilized and are currently on the scene, according to emergency response spokesperson Jón Þórs Víglundsson. It is noted that the road conditions are icy at this moment, as reported by the Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration’s website.
