Iceland holds final debates for 2024 parliamentary elections with audience voting engagement
The final debates leading up to the 2024 parliamentary elections in Iceland are taking place this evening. Viewers can engage by rating the political leaders participating in the discussions on RÚV, using the RÚV Stars app or a dedicated voting window. This marks the first time that the audience has the opportunity to evaluate the performance of candidates during such debates.
Voting is straightforward: participants can give stars for each candidate’s performance. The results will be unveiled later in the week during a program hosted by Gísli Marteinn shortly after the debates conclude. The broadcast is set to start at 19:40 GMT, and viewers can vote by clicking on stars next to the candidates’ pictures and names.
Voters are not required to rate all candidates; they can choose to abstain from voting for specific individuals, which will not affect the overall score for those candidates. Each voter can modify their star ratings up until the polls close during Gísli Marteinn’s show when he will announce the outcome.
Participation in this rating is free, and many viewers may already be familiar with the RÚV Stars app from events like Songvakeppnin and Eurovision. The app is available for download on both the App Store and Google Play.
