Buildings in Helsinki set to illuminate orange for International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women
Next week, several iconic buildings around the world will illuminate in orange to signify the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. This event marks the commencement of the annual “16 Days of Activism” campaign, aimed at raising awareness on this critical issue. Orange serves as the campaign’s symbolic color.
In Finland, notable sites including the Government Palace and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs’ Merikasarmi in Helsinki will be bathed in orange light, as stated by the officials. The illumination of the Government Palace will begin on Sunday, November 24, at 8 PM and will continue until Thursday morning, November 26, at 9 AM. Meanwhile, the Merikasarmi will light up in orange on Monday, November 25, from 3 PM to midnight.
This global initiative seeks to draw attention to the pervasive problem of violence against women, encouraging communities and individuals to take a stand against such abuses during these 16 days of activism.
