In the lead-up to Iceland’s parliamentary elections on November 30, significant political discussions are underway, with just six days remaining until the voting occurs. The political party Viðreisn will unveil its key campaign priorities during a press conference scheduled for today at 1 PM, to be held at the entrance of the Furniture Exhibition Hall in Reykjavík.

Alma Möller, the leader of the Samfylking party in the Southwest electoral district, expressed her desire to close the emergency department in Fossvogur during a recent interview. She cited that it does not meet professional standards. Additionally, Jasmina Vajzovic Crnac, a specialist in issues related to immigrants, has resigned from Viðreisn after seeking a top position on their candidate list in the Southern constituency but failing to secure a spot.

Political scientists note that no singular issue has dominated the electoral campaign thus far, as media coverage has largely focused on polling results and various controversies. Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Þórdís Kolbrún Reykfjörð Gylfadóttir stated that Iceland respects the independence and decisions of the International Criminal Court. This statement follows the court’s issuance of an arrest warrant against Israel’s Prime Minister last week.

As the political landscape evolves, voters are engaging in discussions that could shape the election’s outcome, navigating through multiple narratives from party leaders and experts alike.
