Seismic activity has been reported on the Reykjanes Peninsula, prompting a change in the national preparedness level from an emergency state to a heightened risk alert. The Chief of Police has indicated that while an emergency response was initially deemed necessary when the volcanic eruptions began, the situation is now considered stable, although monitoring efforts will continue.

The eruptions are occurring at three craters, with one exhibiting the most significant activity. The lava flow primarily originates from the central crater, moving predominantly westward. Additionally, flows are spreading eastward from the northern and southern segments of the fissure system, yet they pose no risk to critical infrastructure.

Over recent days, lava has advanced towards the Njarðvík road but has not caused any apparent damage, allowing water supply services to maintain their usual delivery levels. Safety measures and readiness among response teams will remain in place as the situation continues to be closely monitored.

Local conditions reflect a stable volcanic environment with no immediate threats identified. Nonetheless, authorities emphasize the importance of preparedness and continuous evaluation, ensuring that teams are equipped to respond effectively to any changes.
