Recently, several areas in the Triangle Region have experienced significant snowfall. The shift in weather has brought about accumulation of snow and frost across much of the country, resulting in slippery sidewalks and roads. This has led to an increase in patients at the emergency department of Kolding Hospital.

Staff member Maria Jensen, a specialized nursing supervisor, reported a busy afternoon with 20 patients currently receiving treatment for injuries related to the winter conditions. She noted, “We are experiencing a high volume of cases because people are falling.”

Patients may face long wait times at the facility, as Jensen explained that some individuals have had to stay in the waiting room for up to 3.5 hours before being seen. She advised those who have recently fallen and sustained injuries to assess the severity before heading to the emergency room.

“If you find yourself in such a situation, consider staying home if the injury doesn’t seem serious,” Jensen suggested. “Evaluate whether it is urgent to seek immediate care or if it can wait until tomorrow. My recommendation is to monitor the situation—perhaps take some pain relief and see if the condition improves.”

As the night progresses, Kolding Hospital anticipates an ongoing influx of patients, particularly due to holiday festivities leading to more potential accidents.
