The President of Finland has announced the recipients of the 2024 Internationalization Awards. ABB Oy, a prominent technology firm, was recognized for its long-standing commitment to international investments. Based in Vaasa, ABB Oy is renowned for its leadership in electrification and automation technologies. The company employs approximately 5,500 people across around 20 locations in Finland. As one of the largest contributors to corporate tax in the country, ABB plays a significant role as an employer in the industrial sector. Over the past decade, the company has invested an average of over 55 million euros annually in its production capacity in Finland.
Pekka Tiitinen, the CEO of ABB Oy, highlighted that the company’s international success is closely linked to its customers’ achievements worldwide. He emphasized that the core of their success lies in their skilled workforce and substantial investments in research and development for cutting-edge technology.
Other notable awards were given to key players in the industry: Unikie Oy was named Rookie of the Year, while Konecranes Plc received recognition as a growth company. Forest Joensuu, a forest industry cluster, was honored with the Community Award.
The Internationalization Awards are presented to Finnish companies and organizations that have excelled in their global endeavors, with evaluation criteria including competitiveness, business internationalization, and sustainability.
