Historic railway tunnel in Lievestuore acquired for €299,000 by Sora-Manninen Oy
A historic railway tunnel located in Lievestuore, Lahti region of Central Finland, has found new owners. Senate Properties and Sora-Manninen Oy have concluded a final property transaction after an open bidding process, with the sale amount set at €299,000.
The transfer includes approximately seven hectares of land, mostly composed of undeveloped forested areas. Sora-Manninen Oy acquired this site to support its gravel business operations. The owners, Pekka Manninen and senior partner Ilkka Manninen, expressed their intent to develop the area while ensuring the long-term sustainability of their gravel operations.
Pekka Manninen highlighted the significance of this land acquisition in their future plans, stating the aim is to enhance the region’s infrastructure and enable safe and efficient utilization of resources in the years to come. Furthermore, the tunnel presents intriguing development opportunities—a prospect the company is keen to explore.
This transaction is notable considering the rarity of such old railway tunnels being available for purchase, marking a unique addition to the area’s industrial landscape.
