The trend of youth leaving the Faroe Islands for further education is not a new phenomenon. However, recent statistics from higher education institutions reveal a concerning projection: only one in five of the oldest senior secondary school students intends to pursue their studies within the Faroes.

Previous reports from both the Statistics Bureau and the University of the Faroe Islands have highlighted similar trajectories in educational choices.

Today, we engage with several young individuals who plan to study abroad. We explore their reasons for choosing other countries over the Faroes for their education and inquire whether secondary schools are taking steps to address this trend.

The discussions will air at 10 AM on the local radio station and will also be available on kvf.fo.
