Decisions regarding staffing in the maternity department of Lohja Hospital were announced today by HUS, the entity responsible for specialized health care in Helsinki and Uusimaa. As part of the changes, up to 40 personnel will be reassigned to other maternity hospitals within the HUS network, specifically to facilities in Helsinki, Espoo, and Hyvinkää, effective from the beginning of December.

Additionally, a maximum of three staff positions may be terminated due to the closure of the maternity unit. Those affected will be offered clinical roles in line with their training within HUS.

The Lohja Hospital will welcome its final maternity patients on November 27. After this date, the maternity services in Uusimaa will be centralized in Espoo, Helsinki, and Hyvinkää. However, the Lohja facility will continue to provide regional gynecological and prenatal care services, including maternal check-ups, gynecological consultations, and prenatal screenings.

HUS aims to finalize all decisions related to the ongoing cooperation negotiations by the end of the month.
