Faroe Islands introduce new regulations restricting interactions with Russia following Ukraine conflict

New regulations will take effect tomorrow, establishing restrictions related to actions against Ukraine. This policy marks the first of its kind, explicitly outlining what forms of interaction the Faroe Islands and its citizens can engage in with Russia.

According to Høgni Hoydal, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, anything not mentioned in the accompanying 16 documents will be considered prohibited starting tomorrow.

Since the onset of the situation, the Faroe Islands have adhered to initiatives put forth by the European Union, though keeping pace has proven challenging due to frequent changes, said the minister. To manage this complexity, Faroese authorities have decided to adopt a new approach.
