Officer faces new DUI charges in Satakunta District Court, Finland
A police officer previously convicted of violating official duties and driving under the influence is facing new charges in the Satakunta District Court. This time, he is accused again of DUI and neglecting his professional responsibilities. Allegations state that the officer drove drunk to the Porin police station and began his work in a service capacity, which included processing electronic crime reports.
The incident occurred when he was breathalyzed approximately half an hour after starting his shift, revealing a blood alcohol content of 0.89. The distance he drove to work was between six to seven kilometers.
In 2023, he received a prior conviction for a similar offense, which raised concerns about the trustworthiness of police duties. Following his May 2023 DUI and working while intoxicated, he was suspended from his job for four months. He had previously been issued a written warning in 2016 due to another DUI conviction.
The new incident of intoxicated work is said to have occurred on March 6, 2024. A police attorney has indicated that the officer has been suspended since March 7. The prosecution is seeking a conditional prison sentence ranging from 30 to 50 days for him. The case was discussed in court on Monday, with a verdict expected next week.
