Two friends share remarkable journey across Norway despite unexpected challenges
For nine months, two friends embarked on an adventurous journey across Norway, initially aiming to travel the entire country. However, their expedition was abruptly halted just weeks before completion. Fredrik Dahle Klocke shared that their experience, which began in Snåsa in February and concluded in Saltdal in Nordland in late October, has been remarkable.
One of the most memorable moments occurred while kayaking northward, when they encountered a pod of curious minke whales about 15 kilometers from shore in Porsangerfjord. The whales closely followed their boats, with one swimming directly beneath Fredrik’s kayak—a scene they had long hoped to witness.
Fredrik reflected on the beauty they encountered throughout their journey, particularly in Troms and Finnmark, where they observed arctic foxes and caught large trout. He described serene evenings around the campfire, enjoying sunsets that filled them with a profound sense of freedom, which they sought throughout their travels.
However, the trip wasn’t without challenges. They faced severe storms on Dovrefjell in March, struggling to set up camp amid harsh weather. Their initial route spanned approximately 5,000 kilometers, though they had to adjust their plans as winter approached earlier than expected in Nordland.
The duo found inspiration from renowned adventurer Lars Monsen, and their trip showcased Norway’s diverse and stunning landscapes. After returning home, they now face a busy work period but are already planning future trips throughout Norway, eager to explore more of the breathtaking natural scenery their homeland has to offer.
