Vágur municipal council holds first meeting after recent elections

The newly elected municipal council for Vágur, which includes the villages of Sandavág, Miðvág, and Vatnsoyrar, held its first meeting yesterday morning.

Bjarni Prior, who has served as mayor for the past four years and received the highest number of votes in the recent municipal election, will continue in his role as mayor. The new deputy mayor is Jóanis Albert Nielsen.

The council unanimously approved these appointments before selecting the four standing committees within the council. These committees are focused on finance, technical issues, trade and harbor matters, and cultural and community affairs.

Additionally, three council members were elected to the board of Vesturvón, one member for IRF, and three members for the preparedness committee.

Alongside Bjarni Prior and Jóanis Albert Nielsen, the representatives serving on the Vágur municipal council for this term will include Gunnvá á Lofti, Thilda Hansdóttir, Súsanna Nordendal, Jónhard Selfoss, Ingi Wiberg, Elsibet Jacobsen, Beinta Gudmundsen, Albert Ellefsen, and Dánial Hansen.
