The newly elected city council of the third-largest municipality in the country convened for its first meeting at the old school building in Glyvrum. The assembly was packed as members voted to elect the mayor, deputy mayor, and the permanent committees of the council.

During this brief session, consensus was reached on the establishment of several key committees, including the finance committee, technology and environment committee, business committee, port committee, community committee, culture committee, sports committee, and urban planning committee. A notable change is that the former business and port committee has now been divided into two independent committees.

In addition to Tórbjørn Jacobsen and Tóra Højgaard, the council members include Sigrun Jónsveinsdóttir, Jógvan Andersen, Arnfinn Langgaard, Petur Hansen, John Andersen, Bogi Hansen, Pauli Poulsen, Terje Beinar Vestergaard, and Jóhan Vest.

Audio content featuring interviews with the mayor and deputy mayor is available for listening.
