A seismic event measuring 3.5 on the Richter scale struck the Bárðarbunga region shortly before 5 PM. Despite the tremor, there have been no indications of volcanic activity associated with this quake.
Bárðarbunga has a history of frequent seismic activity. This year alone, two earthquakes exceeding magnitude 5 have been recorded in the area. The most significant of these occurred in April, reaching a magnitude of 5.4, marking the strongest quake since the Holuhraun volcanic eruption concluded in 2015.
Bárðarbunga remains a site of geological interest, with ongoing monitoring of its seismic activity.
