Authorities are investigating an assault involving a group of young people that occurred on Tuesday near a bus stop close to Nummen School in Turku. A video documenting the incident circulated on TikTok before being removed. The victim of the attack is a teenage girl.

Law enforcement from Southwestern Finland has confirmed that a report of the incident has been filed, and the case is being treated as both an assault and illegal threats.

The principal of Nummenpakan School, Jukka Laine, emphasizes the seriousness of the situation despite it taking place outside the school grounds. He explained that traditional disciplinary measures typically used within the school do not apply in this instance as it occurred during transit.

Laine highlighted his responsibility to report any incidents affecting students during their commutes. He advocates for a proactive approach in addressing such matters, asserting he will not simply overlook them.

In light of the incident, the principal praised the students who informed him, expressing that effective communication is key. He learned of the situation through a message on WhatsApp.

Furthermore, Laine reminds students about their duty to report any concerning activities to trusted adults and warns them against filming and sharing videos online without permission, as this can also constitute a crime. He expressed satisfaction with the students’ courage in bringing the information forward.

The incident’s details have been clarified and updated accordingly.
