A nearly 70-year-old man residing in Itä-Häme has been sentenced to prison for sexual offenses against two young girls, both approximately 10 years old. The Päijät-Häme District Court sentenced him to five years behind bars. According to court proceedings, the victims are siblings, and the convicted individual is the partner of their grandmother. The incidents primarily occurred at the defendant’s home during the children’s visits to their grandmother.
The court indicated that the most serious offenses were directed at the younger victim, with the most severe charge being aggravated rape of a child. Over a six-month period, multiple offenses were recorded against this same victim, categorized as aggravated sexual abuse of a child. The court deemed these actions particularly egregious due to the young age of the victims and the close, trusting relationship between the defendant and the children.
For the slightly older victim, the defendant was found guilty of sexual abuse of a child, stemming from taking sexually explicit photographs of the sleeping girl. The court mandated the offender to pay compensation for suffering, amounting to 8,000 euros for the younger victim and 2,500 euros for the older one. The verdict was announced on November 13, and details of the court documents and sentence have been ordered to remain confidential.
