Authorities seek detention of man in connection with Ismo Kumpulainen’s disappearance in Riihimäki

Authorities in Hämeen are seeking the detention of a 47-year-old man from Riihimäki in connection with the mysterious disappearance of Ismo Kumpulainen. Kumpulainen vanished during a sauna visit in Riihimäki back in February 2000. At the time of his disappearance, he was just 32 years old.

On the day he went missing, Ismo Kumpulainen had returned from the Swedish World Rally Championship with a friend. The two men spent the evening at a venue in an industrial area, which they had rented for working on their cars. Kumpulainen unexpectedly disappeared from the location at Kylänraitti 7 during that night. Following his disappearance, there have been no confirmed sightings of him, and he has never been located.

Just last week, the police announced that Kumpulainen’s case might involve criminal activity. Further updates on the situation are forthcoming.
