On Wednesday morning in Ivalo, an incident occurred during a training exercise involving the Lapland Border Guard’s Jaeger Company. Six soldiers injured in a traffic accident were evaluated and treated in Rovaniemi. Fortunately, none sustained serious injuries, and their medical assessments concluded the previous evening.

Additionally, 17 other injured individuals received care at the health center in Ivalo, primarily for minor bruises and injuries. After their medical evaluations, the soldiers were returned to their base in Ivalo, where an overnight nursing service was set up for added support. A doctor is scheduled to examine the soldiers involved in the accident later today.

In the wake of the incident, the Ivalo Jaeger Company organized crisis assistance for all personnel in conjunction with the crisis response team from the Inari health center. Psychological support services are being offered today and will continue as needed in the coming weeks.

While training exercises involving live-fire drills will continue as planned today, the soldiers who were part of the accident will not participate in these activities. The local police in Lapland are investigating the incident and its circumstances.
