Effo’s wind farm application faces hurdles in Eysturlund, according to Environmental Agency
The Environmental Agency has stated that they cannot change their approach concerning Effo’s application for permission to establish the Eysturlund wind farm. Ari Johanneson, head of the Regulatory Authority at the Environmental Agency, explained the situation.
During a recent news interview, Effo’s director, Gunnar Nielsen, indicated that the company is not in agreement with the environmental authority regarding the project’s network status. However, according to Johanneson, the issues stem from both the phrasing of the application and the timing of its submission, which have contributed to the current predicament for the agency.
Effo submitted its request to the authorities before amendments to energy regulations were enacted earlier this year, meaning the application is being processed under the previous law. Since the issue surrounding the network was not relevant at that time, it must now be considered under the new regulations. Following these changes, only SEV is authorized to own and operate a network.
