Election results in Hvalba show rejection of municipal merger proposal

The main issue in the recent election in Hvalba has centered around the proposal for municipal merger. List A, led by the current mayor Janus Thomsen, advocated for consolidation, whereas List B aimed to keep the municipalities independent.

The election results indicate that the idea of merging municipalities may not be widely accepted. Although Janus Thomsen received the highest number of votes with 48, List A garnered only 38.5% of the total votes. Consequently, List A secured three seats in the municipal council, while List B, which received 61.5% of the votes, won four seats.

Ronni Hammer, the leading candidate for List B with 45 votes, stated that the focus will now shift to securing the mayoral position.
