Metsähallitus has concluded its negotiations regarding changes in its nature services division. As a result of these discussions, four permanent positions will be eliminated in a team that previously engaged in collaboration with open prison facilities. During the negotiations, the number of job terminations was reduced from five to four.

According to Metsähallitus, maintenance work on service structures and nature conservation tasks, which were previously carried out by inmates, will now be fully funded by the ministries’ base budget. These services will mostly be delivered through outsourcing agreements.

Henrik Jansson, the director of nature services at Metsähallitus, commented that “services cannot be maintained at their current levels across all locations.” The negotiations were initiated in October due to the cessation of funding for collaboration with open prison facilities.
