Tourists rescued after getting lost while hiking in Fljótsdal, East Iceland

A group of tourists became lost while hiking in Fljótsdal, East Iceland, and contacted emergency services for assistance. Rescue teams were dispatched around 6 PM and successfully helped the hikers return to their lodge at Laugarfell by 10 PM.

The tourists were reportedly hiking from Laugarfell to Kirkjufoss but lost their way after several hours of walking. They reached out to the emergency hotline seeking help. Fortunately, rescuers located the group not far from their lodge.

Providing support were rescue teams from Hérað and Jökull, along with volunteers from Egilsstaðir and the Laugarfell lodge. A drone team from Ísólfur in Seyðisfjörður was also involved in the operation.

The swift response of the rescue teams ensured the safety of the stranded hikers, who were safely escorted back to their vehicle at the lodge.
