Search operations are underway for an elderly man reported missing in the Senja municipality. This situation arose after he failed to return home before nightfall.

Authorities described the missing individual as an active man in his 80s who set out for a walk earlier in the day but did not arrive back as darkness fell, raising concerns among his relatives. The last known contact occurred around 2 PM on Sunday, prompting family members to alert the police.

The man’s vehicle has been located, according to officials, but the area is known for poor mobile network coverage. Search conditions in the region are reportedly favorable.

A rescue helicopter has recently arrived to deploy drone teams from the police, marking the beginning of a coordinated search effort involving both aerial and ground personnel. Various organizations, including the Red Cross, Norwegian People’s Aid, and search dog teams, are also participating, alongside firefighters. The rescue helicopter will assist in the ongoing search operations for the missing man.
