Second qualifying round of Skrekk talent competition held at Borgarleikhúsið in Reykjavík
Last night, the second qualifying round of Skrekk, a talent competition for primary schools in Reykjavík, took place at the Borgarleikhúsið (City Theatre). Nine schools participated, showcasing their talents for a chance to advance to the finals. Árbæjarskóli and Laugalækjarskóli successfully moved forward.
Árbæjarskóli’s performance, titled “Creative Thinking,” explores the importance of trusting one’s intellect over artificial intelligence. The school’s group is currently working on a dance segment, although the creative process has faced some challenges. The piece aims to encourage participants to prioritize their human abilities over reliance on AI.
Laugalækjarskóli presented “Dear Diary,” a heartfelt exploration of different life stages through the lens of a woman’s diary, capturing her journey from birth to old age. As she reflects on her life, she regrets not pausing to enjoy moments instead of constantly rushing and worrying about trivial matters.
Three qualifying rounds are scheduled, with eight to nine schools competing each time. A jury selects two performances to advance from each round, along with two additional schools through a wildcard option. The final competition will air live on November 11, with the last qualifying round occurring tomorrow, November 5, available via streaming.
