Finland homicide case concludes preliminary investigations, two suspects face charges for park murder and robbery
The preliminary investigation into a homicide that occurred in Kaukovainio’s Haukkapuisto Park in Oulu, Finland, in April has been completed. The case has now moved on to the consideration of charges. The police suspect two men in their twenties from Oulu of killing a man under 30. The suspects have been in custody since the end of April.
It is believed the two suspects arranged a meeting related to drugs with the victim, who they already knew, in the park located in Kaukovainio. The suspects had a sharp weapon and a club with them. The meeting turned violent in the park when the victim was attacked with the club and stabbed in the upper body, causing his death. The suspects also stole the victim’s property, leading police to suspect them of aggravated robbery in addition to the homicide.
In early May, the District Court of Oulu remanded the two suspects in custody. They remain in detention.
