Faroese Parliament to discuss proposal for international adoption legislation

Tomorrow, the Faroese Parliament (Løgting) will discuss a proposal to amend the adoption legislation. If approved, this change would allow Faroese citizens to adopt children from abroad across all Nordic countries.

Since Danish International Adoption (DIA) ceased its operations earlier this year, it has not been possible for residents of the Faroe Islands to adopt foreign children.

The proposal aims to address this gap and provide new opportunities for adoption. There will be audio coverage of the discussion, including an interview with Monica Hjelm Rasmussen, the director of the Family Administration.

Following the initial review in Parliament tomorrow, the proposal will move to the judicial committee for further consideration.
