The Finnish Defence Forces reported receiving up to 12,000 applications for a course in human intelligence gathering during September. The course focuses on training participants in gathering information from human sources and related specialized skills. Successful applicants will be informed about their selection, course schedule, duration, and training location by the beginning of 2025. Other applicants will not receive any communication.

In the September announcement, it was specified that the course would take place during weekends and evenings. Those who complete the course may be assigned to various tasks in human intelligence operations during both normal and emergency conditions. Applicants must be Finnish citizens, of legal age, and possess excellent proficiency in the Finnish language.

In the Finnish Defence Forces, military intelligence is overseen by the Defence Command’s Intelligence Division. Its responsibilities include creating security assessments for the government and Defence Forces leadership, as well as preventing intelligence threats aimed at the Defence Forces and criminal activities that endanger military defense.
