Arne Bye faces charges of sexual exploitation and rape of patients in Frosta
The investigation into Arne Bye, a former doctor in Frosta, has revealed alarming evidence of alleged misconduct. Upon searching Bye’s home, police discovered multiple cameras, memory cards, and hard drives. Prosecutors noted that black tape was placed over parts of the cameras that indicate when they are recording.
Bye is facing charges for the rape of 87 patients and the sexual exploitation of 94 women, leveraging his position as a physician to commit these acts. While he acknowledges guilt for three counts of rape and 35 counts of abuse of power, he denies the majority of the charges.
Authorities seized over 6,000 hours of video footage from Bye’s medical office and examination rooms. In his first police interview, Bye claimed he recorded parts of medical visits for documentation purposes, but stated that the recordings were deleted. Nonetheless, several cameras showed signs of tampering meant to obscure their recording status.
Prosecutors have indicated that the videos provide significant evidence, including footage of 77 of the implicated women. The total duration of the video files is believed to exceed 5,500 hours, with some recordings capturing the actual assaults. The former community doctor allegedly engaged in numerous invasive acts that were not medically justified, using various objects.
This serious case, involving actions purportedly occurring between 2004 and 2022, is set to be heard in court from November 5 to February 18. Arne Bye, who has held a prominent position in the Frosta community, maintains his innocence in many of the allegations against him. The case has raised significant concern within the local community due to its severe implications.
