The case is being updated. The court has determined that the statements fall within the realm of free speech. “The ruling is as expected. I have no further comments,” stated Jens E. Skoghøy.

In December 2022, then-Supreme Court Justice Skoghøy made media allegations claiming he had been poisoned by his ex-wife. He asserted that the intention was to take his life. Skoghøy alleged that the poisoning occurred over an extended period, from May to October 2022.

The case garnered significant media attention. His former wife, Nataliia Skoghøy, labeled his accusations as lies and falsehoods. She sought damages for defamation in a private lawsuit. The matter was presented at the Oslo District Court over two days in October, during which Nataliia Skoghøy demanded 2.5 million kroner in compensation for herself and their son due to the distress caused by the media coverage.
