Medical professionals in Iceland are currently voting on a potential strike as negotiations between the Icelandic Medical Association and the government continue. The discussions are taking place at the state mediator’s office and started this morning at 9 AM. The Medical Association had planned to initiate a strike on November 18; however, the government has deemed this strike declaration illegal.

A second vote regarding the doctors’ strike will take place later today. Steinunn Þórðardóttir, the chair of the Medical Association, indicated that any actions will be postponed until November 25. She further cautioned that these potential actions are expected to be more aggressive than those originally announced.

As of now, there has been no meeting scheduled to address the ongoing wage dispute between teachers and the state and municipalities.
