Low pressure brings rain and snow to Finland, warnings issued for poor driving conditions
A new area of low pressure is set to arrive in Finland today, bringing with it rain and snow, along with stronger winds, according to the Finnish Meteorological Institute. Rainfall is expected to reach the western coast by morning and will spread to the southern and central parts of the country. By midnight, most of the precipitation will have moved towards Russia.
Today, the boundary between rain and snow will run approximately from the northern part of Satakunta to the eastern area of Uusimaa. Due to the expected snow and sleet, several areas have issued warnings for poor driving conditions. Conditions may be particularly severe in Uusimaa, Päijät-Häme, and Kymenlaakso, where travel hazards are anticipated.
