There’s a noticeable political atmosphere as the U.S. prepares for its presidential election on Tuesday, and the Faroe Islands will hold local elections next Tuesday. Today, a new leadership for the Republican Party is set to be chosen after Høgni Hoydal stepped down following 24 years as chairman.

This week has also seen significant events, including a meeting of the Nordic Council in Reykjavik, where Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky delivered a speech. During this meeting, the Faroe Islands moved a step closer to joining the Nordic Council.

In this week’s panel discussion, featuring Hans Jákup Hermansen, Mirjam Johannesen, and Óluva Klettskarð, topics included the elections in the U.S. and the Republican Party, dissatisfaction with the elderly care sector, and potential actions in response to Zelensky’s address, which could heighten pressure on the Faroese not to negotiate a new fishing agreement with Russia. The panel also explored why an increasing number of individuals are seeking assistance from the Salvation Army.

Tune in to listen to this week’s discussion.
