Morten Stig Christensen, chairman of Danish Handball, passes away at 65
Morten Stig Christensen, the chairman of Danish Handball, has passed away at the age of 65 due to a sudden cardiac arrest, as confirmed by his family. In a heartfelt message, his partner Anne Engdal Christensen expressed her sorrow, stating, “Today, I have lost the great love of my life, my partner, my support, and Morten’s five children have lost their wonderful father. Morten is no longer here, and it is utterly incomprehensible. We ask for privacy to come to terms with our sudden and profoundly immense loss of a loving man and father.”
Christensen was a prominent handball player who represented his country in three Olympic Games. Following his athletic career, he transitioned to a career in broadcasting as a presenter at TV 2 and later became the sports director. In 2007, he became the general secretary and director of Danish Handball, and in 2021, he was appointed as the chairman of the handball federation.
The news of his passing has brought shock and grief to the sports community in Denmark and beyond.
