The Päijät-Häme District Court has sentenced 11 men to prison for drug trafficking in Lahti, with sentences ranging from just over two years to more than eight years. The three individuals who received the longest sentences acquired four kilograms of cocaine, 44 kilograms of amphetamines, 100,000 tranquilizer tablets, and 80,000 ecstasy pills, which were smuggled into Finland.

The man with the longest sentence, eight years and three months, was convicted of multiple serious drug offenses as well as aggravated money laundering. These crimes took place between 2020 and 2021, during which the perpetrators utilized a secure messaging application to coordinate their activities.

For three of the accused, the court dismissed the charges. The sentences primarily stem from serious drug offenses but also included charges for money laundering, deprivation of liberty, extortion, and firearms offenses.

The sentences are not yet final, meaning appeals can be made to higher courts.
