Shooting incident at Härmän Häjy restaurant in Seinäjoki leads to prosecution stage
A shooting incident at the restaurant Härmän Häjy in Seinäjoki, which occurred on July 27, is now moving forward to the prosecution stage. The confrontation reportedly began during a gathering involving multiple individuals, leading to a dispute between two people who then exchanged gunfire, resulting in injuries to bystanders as well.
According to the head investigator Harri Teivaanmäki from the Ostrobothnia police, approximately 40 people have been interviewed during the preliminary investigation. “Three individuals were reported to have used firearms inside the restaurant, and five people were hit. Many others were placed in danger,” he stated. Currently, three people remain in custody, while one has been released.
Teivaanmäki described the situation as complex and acknowledged the immediate danger posed by several gunshots fired in the confined space of the restaurant. Surveillance cameras inside and outside the facility have proven to be essential in the investigation, capturing most of the shooting incidents.
The charges related to this case include attempted homicide, endangerment, and firearm offenses. “It can be said that some aspects of the events have been admitted, while others have been denied during the preliminary investigation,” Teivaanmäki added.
The decision for indictment is expected to take place in November. There are dozens of individuals involved in the case, and a preliminary hearing has been scheduled at the Southern Ostrobothnia District Court for December.
