Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace has announced a new follow-up contract with Japan, marking the fourth agreement for the Joint Strike Missile (JSM) designated for the country’s fleet of F-35A aircraft. Eirik Lie, the company’s CEO, emphasized that this fifth order for the JSM highlights its crucial role in Japan’s national defense strategy and exemplifies the growing and close relationship between Norway, Japan, and Kongsberg.

Japan first ordered the JSM in 2018 and has since finalized several follow-up contracts. The JSM is currently utilized by Norway, Japan, Australia, and the United States.

Recently, it was reported that the Dutch government plans to acquire the Nasams and Nomads air defense systems from Kongsberg Gruppen, with this deal expected to be valued at 11 billion kroner.
