Family evacuated safely after fire breaks out in residential building in Kópavogur

A four-member family was transported to the emergency department after a fire broke out in a residential building in Salahverfi, Kópavogur, early this morning around 4 a.m. Firefighters were called to the scene due to a significant blaze. Fortunately, the family managed to escape from their apartment on their own, as confirmed by the duty officer.

It is reported that the family did not suffer serious injuries. All residents of the six apartments in the building were evacuated safely while firefighting efforts were underway, which were conducted smoothly according to the official. Once the fire was extinguished, residents were allowed to return to their homes. However, the apartment where the fire originated has sustained considerable damage.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown, and it is now the responsibility of the police to investigate the incident.
