Marita Gunnarstein Nielsen appointed as principal of Vocational School in Suðuroy

Marita Gunnarstein Nielsen has been appointed as the new principal of the Vocational School in Suðuroy.

At 40 years old, she holds a master’s degree in English, with minors in psychology and Danish, from the University of Copenhagen.

Previously, Marita worked as an educational lecturer at the University of the Faroe Islands and has been teaching at the Vocational School in Suðuroy since 2017. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, she has taken on various roles, including serving as an ISF coordinator and a trusted advisor.

She lives in Vágur with her family and will officially assume her new role on December 1st.

The appointment was discussed in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade due to a lack of consensus in the Ministry of Education and Culture, and Høgni Hoydal, the Minister of Education, made the appointment.
