Finnair flight returns to Helsinki-Vantaa airport due to technical issue
A Finnair flight traveling from Helsinki to Oulu was forced to turn back and land at Helsinki-Vantaa airport on Wednesday afternoon. Flight AY455 took off on schedule around 4:30 PM. Shortly after takeoff, a potential technical issue was detected on board. While the situation did not pose any danger to passengers, the decision was made to return as a precautionary measure.
“There is currently no detailed information regarding the technical issue,” stated Carla Peho from Finnair’s communications team. The aircraft was checked on the ground while passengers remained inside awaiting further instructions. Eventually, Finnair decided to replace the aircraft with a different one. Passengers were able to resume their journey around 7:30 PM.
“This is not unusual. Such situations occur from time to time,” Peho added.
Flight AY455 was initially scheduled to arrive in Oulu around 5:30 PM, with the new estimated landing time now at 8:30 PM.
