Investigation launched into grounding of rescue vessel Emmi in Espoo

The Accident Investigation Center of Finland is looking into a collision involving the rescue vessel Emmi in Espoo. The Emmi, owned by the Finnish Maritime Rescue Society, experienced a serious grounding on Saturday evening northwest of Miessaaren in Espoo, according to the society’s announcement. The boat was operated by the Espoo Sea Rescue Association.

Some crew members sustained minor injuries during the incident, but there were no serious injuries reported. The vessel itself suffered extensive damage; however, the crew managed to navigate it safely back to the home port. The Maritime Rescue Society has also initiated its own safety investigation regarding the event.
